hello universe. I hope you are well today.

due to this weekend’s rush, I have had to contain my love like that message in a bottle in an ocean that never ends.

I believe that there are signs and symbols for everything in the world, and the sign God sent to tell me that everything was going to be okay was delivered on the 11th of May, ‘92.
I met this girl in 2003 and we have been what they call inseparable ever since. Lord, I have had the privilege of dealing with one of the most influential people I could ever know and for that, thank you is not enough.

Look, I don’t care that we don’t share a surname, this is my family. More than a friend, this is my blood, my sister, my world and should it stop today, I will testify that I have experienced one of the most authentic beings.

She turned 21 on Saturday, and this is that milestone age. The transformation into adulthood, into womanhood - but she, she was a butterfly before her time.
And I read somewhere that butterflies are a symbol of profound changes in the soul. A symbol of unfurling glory, of unquestionable embrace and goodness, something shifted in my spirit when I came to know the realest bond back in grade 5 and I didn’t even know its magnitude the way I know it now.

Asanda, Deelishiz, Noelle, Rawbeaux, and every other thing you have called yourself, you are proof of colour in a black and white a world. A rainbow in a dark alley, you light up my heart.
It has been my pleasure to watch you grow, it is my pleasure to continue to watch you grow, to bathe yourself in the greatness of everything you hope to become.

And even at the end of this English degree, even after every book I’ll read, every level of proficiency, I will be unable to describe the level of love and gratitude for you.
